VISA

Important points to note before you apply

  1. When applying for an Indian visa, applicants are requested to disclose details of all passports (current/old) held by them. Failure to do so may result in rejection of their applications."
  2. When applying for a visa, the passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months or more. The passport must have at least three blank pages and should not be mutilated / damaged / tampered in any manner.
  3. Suppression of facts and information will not only result in delay/ or denial of visa applied for but may debar the applicant from applying under this system in future.
  4. Visa processing fees are not refundable. Fee should be deposited only after ascertaining that all correct and relevant details are entered in the application form.
  5. The acceptance of a visa application does not automatically guarantee grant of a visa.  The visa application may be modified or refused by the Embassy at its discretion. Decision of the Embassy of India, Paris on the matter shall be final.
  6. The practice of appending manual signature and affixing stamp on visa stickers have been dispensed with and the visa stickers now carry ‘ghost’ imaging and other security features.
  7. The duration and number of entries granted to the applicant will be solely at the discretion of Embassy. No claims and correspondences shall be entertained in this regard.
  8. Visa is valid from the date of issue and not from the date of travel.
  9. It is strongly advised that applicants do not make any travel arrangements before obtaining an Indian visa. The Embassy of India cannot, under any circumstance, be held responsible for visa not issued in time.

11. All Visa applicants including those applying for multiple entry Tourist and Business Visas are advised to give their biometrics at the time of submission of their applications.

12. Applicants of all long term visas (2 to 5 years) will have to come to at the Embassy for a personal interview. The date and time of the interview will be conveyed to the applicant by the Embassy.

13. FEES: Your payment allows you to deposit a visa application. The latter can be accepted, refused or modified by the Embassy of India in its full right. Once fees have been paid, they cannot be refunded, even in a case of a visa refusal or cancelling an application.

The price of your visa is made up of fixed service charges and variable consular charges. The consular charges depend on the type of visa requested and on your nationality, profession or origin. Please consult the fees chart below in order to calculate the total amount to pay.

TOURIST VISA

This category of visa will be applicable to foreign nationals whose sole objective of visiting India is for recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, attending a short term yoga programme, short duration medical treatment including treatment under Indian systems of medicine, short term courses on local languages, music, dance, arts & crafts, cooking, medicine etc. which should not be a formal or structured course/ programme (courses not exceeding 6 months duration and not issued with a qualifying certificate/ diploma etc.), and voluntary work of short duration (for a maximum period of one month, which do not involve any monetary payment or consideration of any kind in return). etc. and no other purpose/ activity.

Generally, the Embassy of India issues a visa valid for 6 months; however these are not given by default.  Applicants can be granted a lesser duration if a lesser duration is written on the application form and/if the consular services decide to do so. In such cases, visa fees remain unchanged. A longer duration 5 years, 2 years and 1 year visa is also available but each stay will not exceed 90 days Please note that the Tourist visa cannot be exchanged and cannot be extended in India.

Checklist for tourist visa

Applicants are requested to ensure details entered on the Visa application form must be exactly as in the Passport or else the visa application will be rejected.

Please note: the validity of a visa begins on the day it is issued by the Embassy of India and not on the date of departure.

 

EVISA

The documents required for completing the eVisa application is indicated against each type of eVisa. Please keep all these documents ready at hand before beginning to fill your eVisa application. All documents including Business cards, Invitation letters etc. must be in English language, failing which the application would be liable for rejection. The entire process may take 10 to 15 minutes to complete the application and make the payment.

Applicants must be fill eVisa application himself/herself and give correct information in each column and take responsibility for the correctness of information provided.

(i)  A short duration e-Visa for tourism, with a one month validity and visa fee of USD 25 has been introduced. During the tourism off-season (April-June), the visa fee of USD 25 would be further reduced to USD 10.

(ii)  Validity of the regular e-Visa with fee of USD 80 has been increased from 1 year to 5 years with multiple entry.

(iii) Fee for one year e-Tourist Visa has been reduced from USD 80 to USD 40.

    • Invitation from organizer, which applicant may seek from this organiser.
    • Political clearance from Ministry of External Affairs
    • Event clearance from Ministry of Home Affairs

The digital photograph to be uploaded along with the Visa application should meet the following requirements:

  • Format - JPEG
  • Size
    • Minimum 10 KB
    • Maximum 1 MB
  • The height and width of the Photo must be equal.
  • Photo should present full face, front view, eyes open and without spectacles
  • Center head within frame and present full head from top of hair to bottom of chin
  • Background should be plain light colored or white background.
  • No shadows on the face or on the background.
  • Without borders.

e-Tourist Visa

1. One Month e-Tourist Visa

For group tourist from oct 15 2021 and for individual tourist from nov 15 2021 Duration:

Entries: Double Entry, non-extendable and non-convertible

2. One year e-Tourist Visa

Duration: One year (365 Days) from the date of grant of ETA.

3. Five years e-Tourist Visa

Duration: Five years from the date of grant of ETA.

Stay: Continuous stay during each visit shall not exceed 90 days for countries except USA and Japan. For USA and Japan continuous stay during each visit shall not exceed 180 days.
